The monument of Taj Mahal is made in the name of the Mumtaz Mahal, wife of the emperor Shah Jahan. Mumtaz Mahal was Shah Jahan’s third wife but was close to rest two wives. She was his favorite wife and used to travel with him everywhere and bore maximum number of children to him. The queen, Mumtaz Mahal was appreciated for her good disposition and kind heart. Shah Jahan mourned for a year when she died and it was then he decided to build a tribute for his deceased wife.
The construction Taj Mahal took over twenty-two years and today it is called as the one of the finest example of the whole Mughal architecture. This masterpiece is built on the 186-by-186 foot marble base and the done of Taj Mahal is around 213 feet high which is comparatively lower than it seems to be. However, what all that is most interesting about Taj Mahal is not the size and rather its architectural design. It is carved with unique paint designs, inlays and carvings. One may find calligraphy on the building where in the emperor praises his late wife and words are carved for wishing her peace. One can see much detail on the tomb, be it inside or outside.
