London Eye

London eye can be defined as a fusion of classic engineering, magnificent designing and unmatched architecture. This is the most visited place in London and is recognized as a landmark in Britain. It is popularly called as the Millennium Wheel that started spinning during the March 2000 and is visited by more than 3.5 million people per year. This wheel is considered as the largest observation wheel in the world that stands over 443 feet and 135 meters high. Besides this, London Eye is called as the fourth largest London’s structure.

This engineered capsule offers a view of 40 kilometers in each direction. This marvelous piece is the brain child of a great architect couple Julia Barfield & David Marks. Some other important architects that contributory on this creation are Malcolm Cook, Nic Bailey, Steven Chilton and Mark Sparrowhawk. They took about seven years to its completion. Initially, British Airways played a significant role in establishment of this extraordinary piece. Lately, it is directed by the London Eye Company Limited that is a Merlin Entertainments Group Company

This wheel consists of 32 sealed capsules that are air-conditioned and each has the capacity if accommodating around 24 people. The passengers are allowed to walk while the wheel is in rotation mode. Every rotation is for about 30 minutes and each capsule moves with 0.9 kilometers/hour or 26 centimeters/second. London Eye is believed as an important landmark in the center of the city. From 2005, London Eye began to participate during the New Year celebrations. Fireworks are displayed from the wheel which is fired from wheel. This part is linked to major transport links and is closely located to hotels.
