The Atlantis resort on Dubai’s Palm Jumeriah has a one trillion liters aquarium which provides shelter to over 65,000 aquatic residents. Sammy was one of those aquatic residents and has been recently received its freedom with the help of Atlantis Fish Husbandry Team. This specie was acquired for the scientist to monitor her progress. The environmental team i.e. Atlantis Fish Husbandry Team have also criticized the location where Sammy was kept.

The whole of Dubai campaigned for Sammy's release. Given the fact that Sammy was a complete entertainment package for all the guest of the hotels, Atlantis took a hard decision of releasing Sammy back to its origin. Atlantis Fish Husbandry Team with their expertise and skills have played a major role in the release of Sammy. This is a team which focuses on saving the animals with adherence to all the CITIES regulations. Though as per the CITIES regulation animals entrapment was banned but an exemption was given to some of the endangered Species which can be held only for scientific purposes given the fact that nothing should be done to harm the species survival. Thus, Sammy was released as Whale Sharks are considered to be an endangered species and Scientists have found a new way to monitor her progress through a tagging programme. This programme would enable the scientists to study the Whale shark community from a distance.
